Weir Run
The Beginning
Barton's Building Limited were selected by the owners via a competitive tender and appointed as the main contractor for this project by Tom Rogers (the designer) of Rogers and Jones Architects. Barton's carried out a full conversion of Weir Run, a small, single storey two bedroom bungalow into a large high specification four bedroom detached dwelling.
Getting There
The roof was removed and structural steel columns and ring beams (manufactured by Glenholt Steel Fabrications Limited) were then installed. Following this, room in the roof trusses were installed to form the new first floor construction. The first floor included; three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a dressing room and a utility room. In addition to this, as a design change, a fibre glass flat roof was formed with glass and stainless steel balustrading (supplied and fitted by 100% Stainless Limited) to create a feature balcony from bedroom two. A natural slate roof covering was installed by Relentless Roofing and aluminium bi-fold French doors, entrance doors and windows were supplied and fitted by Landmark Window Systems. Joinery items including a feature staircase and an oak entrance porch were supplied and fitted by FD Hall and Sons Limited. A large open plan, living, dining and kitchen area was formed leading out to a sizeable decking area via bi-fold doors.
The Completed Project
As can be seen in the photos, the project was completed to a high standard including the ceramic wall and floor tiling works carried out by Ian Palmer.
